American Upstart Brand Competing with the Majors
Flexotherm® has expanded its product line in the highly competitive filtration market. The company now offers 2,900 different filter elements including coalescers, particulate, adsorbers, general purpose and high temperature filters.
Consistent Sales Growth
The new product line rolled out in early 2010, has shown incremental monthly gains averaging over 46% for the past four months. The brand is also gaining momentum overseas, landing new accounts in the U.K., France, Italy, Australia, and Turkey in recent weeks.
Competitive Advantage
Flexotherm® has been successful by focusing on key product attributes customers are looking for- – basically product quality, performance, filtration efficiency and low replacement cost. The growing volume has enabled the company to achieve production cost efficiencies and offer extremely aggressive pricing.
Unique Product Design
The unique coalescing-separator filter design utilizes inorganic microfibers vacuum-formed into complex paths that trap particles throughout the entire cross-section of the filter, maximizing capacity and lowering pressure drop. They are used in water-oil separation, solvent recovery, air-oil separation, bacteria-dust removal, and removal of submicron particles.
Particulate filters are made from special grades of borosilicate glass, cellulose and synthetic fibers which provide high performance particle removal in applications ranging from food processing to industrial filtration.
Invisible Contaminants
The business of filtration ain’t pretty. While often invisible to the naked eye, elements filter out contamination such as hydrocarbons, oil, metallurgical dust, smoke, paint pigments, particulate matter, exhaust, bacteria and atmospheric dust down to the submicron level. The range of applications is virtually endless with growing environmental and worker safety concerns over air quality and liquid purification, as well as for the protection of industrial equipment.
Demonstrating Quality and Value
Because Flexotherm® is a new player in an established market, it was important to demonstrate product quality and performance by getting prototypes into the hands of prospective customers for testing and evaluation. Real world results have proven that their filter elements are at least equivalent to the major brands in terms of quality and performance, at a superior value. The word has spread largely through product sampling and word-of-mouth. Marketing efforts have been limited to online listings in Thomas Net and Google Product Search.
Competing with the Majors
The rapid growth of the Flexotherm® brand is remarkable considering the historical market dominance of major equipment manufacturers, who have held a captive market and commanded premium prices for replacement filter elements. Flexotherm® replacement elements are directly interchangeable with virtually all major brands, including Parker, Balston, Domnick-Hunter, Finite, Filtersoft, Hankison, Headline, Ingersoll-Rand, Pall, Wilkerson and literally hundreds of others from Airtak to Zurn.

New Heated Water Hose Proven at -25 below zero
Flexotherm has just shipped initial orders of its new line of Heated Water Hoses. The company has been manufacturing industrial strength heated hose since 1994 and is now putting its experience and technology to use in the consumer / recreational arena.
The new heated water hoses are manufactured from high quality industrial hose, with a braided polyester monofilament outer sleeve that will withstand extreme temperatures down to -25 below zero. The hoses are equipped with an industrial grade self-limiting heater that operates on 120VAC normal house current. At the core is a high purity LLDPE thermally insulated core that is ideal for food, water and beverage transfer.
No More Frozen Water Lines
Heated water hoses are useful in countless applications in cold climates, such as Recreational Vehicles, Motor Homes, Jobsite trailers, temporary housing, mobile command units, livestock watering and emergency usage.

On Site Nitrogen Generators Save 80% on Industrial Gases
(Highland, Michigan) Neptech, Inc. recently announced an exclusive joint-venture agreement to represent On Site Gas Systems in the Midwest.
Neptech designs and manufactures electrically-heated products under the Flexotherm brand. These components are used in emissions testing by OEMs and Research and Development facilities throughout North America. The company has been successful in transitioning its engineering, technical and manufacturing expertise into other related industries.
The relationship with On Site Gas Systems was a natural. Nitrogen has countless applications in this region. Companies are finding they can save up to 80% by having an On Site generator and eliminating delivery costs.
In the past, companies would have nitrogen cylinders delivered to their facility for use in production and packaging processes. As energy costs continue to rise, they are now finding that it is more cost-effective to have their own On Site generator to provide an economical and uninterrupted supply of industrial gases while eliminating rental charges, transportation expenses, labor costs and bulk-user evaporation losses.
On Site Gas Systems pioneered the development of Nitrogen and Oxygen generators. The founder was involved in the Apollo Space Program. On Site generators utilize relatively simple PSA technology to separate oxygen and nitrogen molecules virtually from thin air. The air we breathe consists of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen and there is practically an endless supply. The generators are virtually maintenance free.
Nitrogen is used at farms, orchards, in beverage mixing and dispensing, wineries, food packaging to maintain freshness, bacteria elimination, ethanol production, grain elevator explosion prevention, perishable transportation, pharmaceuticals, fish hatcheries and wastewater treatment. Other manufacturing applications include lead-free soldering, bright annealing, fuel tank inerting, heat-treating and laser cutting.
Neptech’s overall mission is to continue to harness new technologies that enable customers to neutralize their environmental impact, save energy, and reduce operating costs. This is proving to be an effective growth strategy under even the most challenging market conditions.
While the automotive testing category has remained relatively stable, due to stringent EPA requirements, Neptech is driving growth into other non-automotive sectors. Neptech has set its sights on serving the agri-business and alternative energy sectors in the Great Lakes Region.
The company’s strategy capitalizes on key advantages for U.S. manufacturers. While China has focused on rudimentary mass-production of low-cost commodity items for Wal-Mart, the U.S. still has the upper hand in terms of technological expertise and high-value manufacturing.
Secondly, with continually rising energy costs, it simply makes economic sense to buy products manufactured within our own region to realize cost-efficiencies in transportation and logistics, while supporting our manufacturing base, critical to the future of this country.
Neptech is a veteran-owned Michigan-based manufacturer that has found that as it continues to leverage American ingenuity to help support our environmental goals, save energy and drive cost-efficiencies, companies are willing to listen.
